Where to Run in Vancouver, Canada

Vancouver is home to some of the most beautiful running trails with a variety of terrain to suit every runner. Not only is the city surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and the North Shore mountains, but with some of the best breweries, cafes and restaurants as well! 

If you’re visiting the city or looking for new trails, here are 5 runs you definitely should not miss to explore Vancouver like a local:

1. Explore Downtown Vancouver – 10.08KM

If you only have one day in the city, this run will give you a snapshot of the best Vancouver has to offer. This beautiful run takes you through 3 of Vancouver’s iconic neighbourhoods – Coal Harbour, Gastown and Yaletown – while running along the breathtaking seawall and passing some of Vancouver’s best restaurants and bars! Be sure to stop by for a photo or two and end your run with some delicious food in one of the many restaurants in Gastown.

2. Pacific Spirit Loop – 10.40KM

Love trail running? This is the perfect run for you! Pacific Spirit Regional Park is filled with many beautiful trails with this loop taking you through some of the best.

3. Spanish Banks Beach Park – 5.45KM

One of the most gorgeous beaches in Vancouver, Spanish Banks Beach Park was named after the iconic meeting between the English and the Spanish explorers in 1792. Starting at the intersection between Jericho and Spanish Banks beach, this fun out and back route takes you on a scenic run along the ocean with views of the North Shore mountains in the distance. In the summer, the beach is a vibrant space with an eclectic mix of kite surfers and volleyball players!

4. Stanley Park Seawall – 10.20KM

One of the most iconic parks in Vancouver, Stanley Park has a whole host of running paths and trails! This run takes you around the park along breathtaking water views for a very relaxing run. When you finish, relax with a horse-drawn tour of the park or check out the Vancouver Aquarium!

5. Downtown to Cleveland Dam – 12.47KM

Located at the head of the Capilano River in the North Shore, the Cleveland Dam makes for an impressive sight with a massive spillway spanning nearly 300 feet. Starting at the iconic Olympic Torch, this run takes you through some of the most beautiful trails in Stanley Park and along the Capilano Pacific Trail as you immerse yourself in panoramic views of the city while running across Lions Gate Bridge. Spend your day exploring Capilano River Regional Park and transit back to downtown.
