Safety is a top priority and we are dedicated to delivering a safe and memorable event for all. Thank you and enjoy the run!

Predicted Alert for Upcoming Event:

RUNVAN and the City of Vancouver prioritize runner safety and encourage participants to stay updated here on our site for any potential changes.

The event alert system is currently set to YELLOW or MODERATE.

The event will continue monitoring conditions and share updates as needed. Please ensure you stay hydrated, wear the right gear, and listen to all event instructions.

BMO Vancouver Marathon Race Day is expected to be warm and sunny, with temperatures rising throughout the morning. Anticipate approximately 13°C at the Half Marathon start (7:00am), 16°C at the Marathon start (8:30am), and highs reaching 23°C.

To support runners in warmer conditions, additional water and electrolytes are planned along the course.

These conditions can impact performance, so plan accordingly. Hydrate well, pace yourself, and consider wearing light, breathable clothing and sun protection.

You may bring a throw-away layer to stay warm at the Start Line Corrals, then leave it on the fencing for volunteers to collect and donate.

Tips for Warm Conditions

  • Carb load plus include electrolytes the night before and morning of
  • Take advantage of on-course hydration stations and drink regularly
  • Adjust your pace early to account for rising temperatures
  • Carry and use your own fuel, as practiced during training, to stay consistent with your race-day routine
  • Stay informed by checking online for updates.

 Reminder to please respect the community – no littering outside of designated zones. Let’s stay safe, keep things clean, and thank the nearly 3,000 event volunteers.

Slow down, be prepared for potentially worsening conditions.

High
(Code: Red)

Potentially dangerous conditions.

Slow down / observe potential course changes / follow official event instructions / consider stopping.

Extreme
(Code: Black)

Event Cancelled. Extreme and dangerous conditions.

Participation stopped. Follow official event instructions.
