Vancouver, B.C., Dec. 15, 2025 — The BMO Vancouver Marathon 2026 event hit its event capacity early on December 12, the earliest Marathon sell-out in recent history on an event that dates back to 1972. Limited spots remain in the Half Marathon, which is also tracking to reach its capacity limits shortly.
Canada’s top destination race, the BMO Vancouver Marathon in May is organized by the RUNVAN, a local non-profit organization that continues to see strong demand across all of its events. The team’s First Half 2026 event in February reached capacity in just a day, and the Fall events are anticipated to reach early capacity as well.
In addition to organizing the First Half and BMO Vancouver Marathon, RUNVAN also hosts the Jerome Classic Track & Field event in July, plus the Granville Island Turkey Trot and Great Trek in October. Those later events are set to open sales in the new year.
Participant capacity limits are established in collaboration with City of Vancouver stakeholders, balancing participant safety, neighbourhood considerations and event operations, to deliver an optimal experience for all, including runners and volunteers.
There is no waitlist for Vancouver’s only Marathon, or any RUNVAN event, and no transfers or resales either. Please don’t be scammed. The non-profit invites you to join future events if you’re still looking to race, or to volunteer and cheer.
Expect additional announcements and positive community-impact stories in the coming months ahead. Stay tuned on social @bmovanmarathon @runvancanada
