New Road Closures, Record Numbers Anticipated
Vancouver, BC – October 7, 2016 –
The Granville Island Turkey Trot will bring thousands together again this Thanksgiving weekend, October 9-10. This fun annual event brings together community in a celebration of Thanksgiving – demonstrating our gratitude for sport and our commitment to supporting others.
The 10KM race is near capacity and event organizers – the local non-profit RUNVAN® Society – hope to surpass the most finishers ever in the event’s 19-year history (set in 2007 at 1,594 finishers). More than 1,700 participants have already signed-up to run this year’s race which will feature brand new medals. Walk-up registrations will remain upon during Package Pick-up hours, space permitting.
The Kids Run is Sunday, October 9, at noon, and the 10KM Run is on Thanksgiving Day Monday, October 10, with an 8:30am Start. The 10KM is a beautiful route along the False Creek Seawall, uniquely starting and finishing on Granville Island with a fun post-race Expo. Learn more.
Runners and volunteers receive great benefits including a free $20 gift card. For each GC redeemed, retailer Rackets & Runners will further donate a pound of food to charity partner Quest Food Exchange.

New this year, Burrard Bridge road access on the Northbound lane will be closed to vehicles 8am-9:30am on Thanksgiving Monday, October, 10, due to on-going road improvements on the bridge. An up-dated traffic control plan is online at TurkeyTrotRun.ca/road-closures.
