First Half

What started as a build-up to the BMO Vancouver Marathon, the ‘First Half’ has become a staple event in the city’s vibrant running culture. Canada’s Fastest Half Marathon offers a stunning out-and-back course past Sunset Beach, and along the Seawall towards Stanley Park before returning to the Roundhouse Community Centre in historic Yaletown. After 30 successful years with the Pacific Road Runners, the ‘First Half’ joined the RUNVAN® family in 2019 and continues to be a perfect training race leading up to the city’s only Marathon in May.

Note: there was no event in 2010 and 2017.

BMO Vancouver Marathon

Vancouver’s only marathon started in 1972 when Tom Howard of Surrey, BC, led a handful of marathon runners around five loops of Stanley Park to complete the first “British Columbia Marathon.” Now, the BMO Vancouver Marathon has grown into one of Canada’s greatest running events with races for everyone including a Marathon, Half Marathon, 8KM, Relay and Kids Run.

An annual Thanksgiving Tradition, the Granville Island Turkey Trot is a hallmark event for Granville Island and the Vancouver running community. The annual event brings together runners in a celebration of Thanksgiving, demonstrating our community of running, our gratitude for the sport, and our commitment to supporting others.

Great Trek

Great Trek

Formerly the Fall Classic, the Great Trek has been a staple race in the Vancouver running community for years. In partnership with the University of British Columbia, the Great Trek pays homage the Great Trek of 1922, where students marched to their current campus. This popular Vancouver event wraps up a the racing season and features races for everyone with a Half Marathon, 10KM and 5KM route. 

Results date back to 1997. Note: there was no event in 2000 and 2001.
