DAN CUMMING

Dan Cumming was a passionate advocate for running and a cherished member of Vancouver’s running community. He began long-distance running at age 40 and served as the race director for the Pacific Road Runners’ First Half Half Marathon from 2007 to 2010. Dan was a strong proponent of age-grading, a method that evaluates race performances regardless of age or gender. In his honor, the Dan Cumming Memorial Trophy is awarded annually to the top age-graded finisher at the First Half Marathon.

Dan passed away suddenly in November 2018 at age 73 while preparing to run the 10K at the Reggae Marathon in Jamaica, one of his favorite events. His legacy continues to inspire runners, with the trophy serving as a lasting tribute to his contributions to the sport.
