FRANK STEBNAR
Frank Stebner is a long-standing and influential member of Vancouver’s running community, recognized for his extensive volunteer work and commitment to the sport. As a member of the Lions Gate Road Runners, he has played a key role in organizing local races and supporting the growth of running culture in the city.
Professionally, Frank is an architect and served as both a director and historian for the Vancouver International Marathon Society from 2002 to 2010. He was also the course director from 2003 to 2009, contributing to the development of the marathon route and helping ensure the smooth delivery of the event each year.
Frank is also an accomplished runner in his own right, recording a marathon personal best of 2:54:42 at the Vancouver International Marathon in 1987.
His dedication to documenting the sport’s history is reflected in his creation of the History Wall presented at the BMO Vancouver Marathon Health, Sports and Lifestyle Expo. This exhibit highlights the evolution and milestones of the event for participants and visitors alike.
Through his work as an athlete, organizer, and historian, Frank Stebner has made a lasting contribution to Vancouver’s running community.
