Lynn Kanuka
Lynn Kanuka is one of Canada’s most accomplished middle-distance runners, known for her standout performances on the international stage. She earned bronze in the 3,000m at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, gold in the 3,000m at the 1986 Commonwealth Games, and bronze in the 1,500m that same year. She also placed fifth in the 1,500m at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, running a personal best of 4:00.26.
From 1983 to 1989, Lynn set eleven Canadian senior records from 1,500m through the mile and added a bronze medal at the 1989 World Cross Country Championships, securing her place among Canada’s top distance athletes.
Her influence continues well beyond competition. Since 2012, Lynn has enhanced the elite athlete experience at RUNVAN events as the Elite Athlete Program Coordinator, helping attract top talent and building strong support systems for participants. She is also a dedicated coach who inspires runners of all ages to embrace active living.
Lynn Kanuka’s legacy is defined not only by her medals and records, but also by her leadership, coaching, and ongoing impact on the running community in Canada.
