Thanksgiving Monday
The Granville Island Turkey Trot and Great Trek presented by BlueShore Financial return this fall, once again drawing an enthusiastic response from the running community. Both events promise unforgettable experiences for participants, and conclude the popular RUNVAN® Race Series.
Granville Island Turkey Trot – Event Details:

The Granville Island Turkey Trot takes place on Thanksgiving Monday, October 14. The 10KM race starts at Granville Island, loops over the Burrard Bridge, and features scenic views of False Creek. Runners turn at Science World and return to the lively Finish Line on Granville Island.
The 1KM timed Kids Run invites families to enjoy a day of fun competition as kids aged 6-13 tackle this exciting challenge on Granville Island.
Vehicle access is closed to Granville Island 8am-9:30am race day, and closed to Burrard Bridge Northbound traffic 8am-9:45am, plus for the race route along sections of W 1st Ave, from Burrard St to Creekside, and Hornby St, between Pacific St and Beach Ave.
Medals and prizes will be awarded to Age Category Champions of the 10KM race, and Kids 6-9, 10-13, plus there are prizes for Best Costumes.
“We’re beyond excited by the incredible response to this year’s Granville Island Turkey Trot, that has reached a record capacity of 2,000 participants,” adds Race Director, Eric Chéné, noting the 10KM sold-out in record time and the Kids Run is also at full capacity.
“Seeing the community come together to support local charities like the Greater Vancouver Food Bank, Surrey Food Bank, and SHARE Family and Community Services, raising over $10,000, is inspiring,” adds / “It’ll be great to see all the smiles on race day!”
Following, RUNVAN® delivers the Great Trek presented by BlueShore Financial in late October. Participants will enjoy ‘a jaunt through Musqueam Territory’ exploring the scenic areas around Pacific Spirit Park. This year, participants have already raised over $15,000 for BC Children’s Hospital.
