Rackets & Runners joins New Balance as the official sponsors of the Granville Island Turkey Trot for 2015 and 2016
Vancouver, BC – September 29 , 2015 – Local retailer, Rackets and Runners has joined New Balance as the Granville Island Turkey Trot’s Official Shoe, Apparel & Retail sponsor for 2015 and 2016. Granville Island Turkey Trot participants will now receive a free $20 Rackets & Runners gift card while enjoying a fun event that brings together runners and community in the spirit of Thanksgiving on October 11th and 12th.

Rackets & Runners offers running clinics in build-up to the Granville Island Turkey Trot 10KM on Thanksgiving Monday, plus host package pick-up at their Oak Street store in Vancouver on Saturday, October 10th. They will also continue their ‘Shoe Renu’ program that takes old shoes, washes and distributes them to those in need.
Rackets and Runners is offering all Granville Island Turkey Trot runners a free $20 gift card redeemable for New Balance products at Rackets & Runners, and will display their latest merchandise at a free Granville Island Turkey Trot Expo located at Performance Works on Granville Island, October 11-12th.
“Rackets & Runners and New Balance have been great influences in the running community for many years and will only add value to the Granville Island Turkey Trot experience,” adds Charlene Krepiakevich, Executive Director of the Vancouver International Marathon Society, the non-profit that annually organizes the BMO Vancouver Marathon, Granville Island Turkey Trot and Fall Classic.
The Granville Island Turkey Trot features a new Kids Fun Run and Preschoolers Dash on Sunday, October 11th,, and returns its scenic 10KM run, walk or stroll on Monday, October 12th. Both days also feature fun festivities, food, prizes, a local Expo, merchandise ‘Turkey Sale’ and lively entertainment, with Start and Finish Lines uniquely situated on Granville Island.
Sign up before October 8th and you can join the 10KM journey for just $45. Students and youth enjoy even deeper discounts in an event that’s capped at 2,000 total runners. The Kids Fun Run and Preschool Dash are only $10 and $5, respectively. Taxes and fees apply.
New this year, your race registration also includes a complimentary beverage courtesy of Mahony & Sons, another example of how the Vancouver International Marathon Society has teamed up with other local partners to enhance the race day experience and bring value to participants.
